To calculate the estimated rental supply we used:
- Total properties rented by real estate agents (G37 TENURE AND LANDLORD TYPE BY DWELLING STRUCTURE ) using R_RE_Agt_Total (Rented By Real Estate Agent Total) as our base.
- Rental tenure (%)
- Building approvals (total residential dwellings 2021 – 2022)
Example:
- Wollongong SA3.
- 11,140 rentals
- 33% rental tenure
- 658 approvals
- Estimated new rentals stock = 220
- New rental stock as a percentage = 2%
